Blogging

I forget that I blogged once before. Back in 2006 and 2007. I was going through a very painful and confusing moment of my life and I needed a creative outlet. I have always enjoyed journaling - I have note books (Moleskine Notebooks) from my 20s and 30s, primarily written during travels. And I was still writing a little at that time, but spending so much time on the computer every day and knowing that people were doing this thing called blogging, I was intrigued to try it.

So, I had a yahoo email account and discovered this application they had called Yahoo 360. Does anyone remember this? It was a simple blogging program and I dipped my toe in that water. And it was fun. I was able to post some photos and write down some thoughts. I did it for about a year. 140 entries. I never told many people about it and the small group of followers I had were mostly strangers who had found me through yahoo. I met some interesting people and we had some interesting communications. I wasn't sure I wanted people who know me to know that I had that. Even starting this blog up and opening it up to everyone I know on Facebook was a tough call. While I want to connect with my friends and family, and I want and hope they can find entertainment and interest in some of the things I write about, the fear remains of exposing too much of myself, offending others, and equally bad - boring people. I don't want to upset people, but I have a very wide range of friends and acquaintances, with a lot of varying opinions, and I like to talk about a lot of things and I have some strong feelings on some things. So, I am pretty sure that some how, some where I will risk offending or upsetting some of this circle of people. I will try not to, but I can't promise anything.

Yahoo 360 shut down back in 2009 and now I think yahoo has something called Pulse. I don't know anything about it and I won't be using it for blogging, but fortunately I still have all of my old blog entries. Most of it is not that personal and I don't need to keep it, but there were a few entries that were special and worth keeping. I am grateful they still exist and I may repost some of them from time to time. Look for the most important one of all later this weekend...
