Scenes: It was a busy week: Driving from Salt Lake City to Vegas. Walking the Vegas strip at night. The incredible view of the desert and mountains from our hotel window in Vegas. Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. Caesars Palace Casino and Hotel. Bellagio. Seeing Cirque du Soleil's Mystere and "O". Losing money - I never win at gambling. Driving from Vegas to Yucca Valley, CA. Walking our land in the desert with my parents. Visiting Pioneertown and buying local arts and crafts. New Year's Eve. Seeing old friends. Driving to Palm Springs for the first time. Driving back to Vegas and then Salt Lake City. Pappy and Harriets (finally!).
Ingesting: Buffets. Road trip snacks in the car. Chocolates from Christmas. Champagne and red wine. Mexican food. Bad roadside food (Burger King ugh...but at least they had a veggie burger!). Old episodes of "The Office." Live awesome music at Pappy and Harriets. Reading The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz. Cirque due Soleil.
Loving: The necklace my husband gave me on New Years Eve - to celebrate the year anniversary when he proposed to me.
INSIDE
Memories: San Diego a year ago on New Year's Eve. My first visit there. We went to the San Diego zoo because I love animals. Then we got dressed up and went out to dinner and at midnight my now husband proposed to me. One of the happiest moments of my life. I love this man. My two previous trips to Vegas. The first trip was many years ago for a friend's Wedding. We stayed at the Mandalay Bay and she got married in one of those little chapels. We took her to one of those silly shows the night before she got married with lots of almost naked beefcake men - Thunder Down Under. My second trip was in 2007 for a big work related trade show. I drove out here from Arizona with someone I was dating at the time. It was a fun trip, but I think it is far better to be coming to Vegas for a vacation than a work function. I hated getting dressed up in a suit and walking through the casinos in the early morning on my way to the convention center. I wanted to be sleeping in and wearing sweatpants.
Intrigues: What it must be like to work as a performer for Cirque du Soleil. Who are the people who work there? These people with such crazy acrobat and gymnastics skills, and in the case of O, diving skills. Who are these people? What is a day or a week in their life like? Do they all get along? How do they stay in such great shape? If this were a reality tv show, I would probably watch it. I am amazed at how many people were in Vegas. All those hotels, all those restaurants and shows and shopping - it is MIND BLOWING how much money has to be changing hands there. Fascinating.
Desires: A dog like Simba. To see the Cirque du Soleil shows Zumanity and Love. To take my husband for a weekend in Palm Springs. To play roulette again and win. Decreasing how much meat I eat and just eating better in general. To see everything down in the Pioneertown area and to start building on our land. To be the best partner I can be to my husband.
